NKVolley Summer Camp by Nick Hunt

Our All Skills Camps give your teams a chance to learn and refine their skills well before the season starts. We bring statistics, motor learning theory and general sport psychology to bring your high school program to the next level. Our drills and competitive games create a ton of learning opportunities that help the athletes in your program improve both as individual players as well as a team.
We go over the 6 skills of the game from beginning to end, breaking them down to their most simplistic form, then give our players the chance to execute those newly learned skills in competitive, full court games. Because we start with the basics, this camp is perfect for both beginners to camp and experts looking to sharpen their skill set. We generally work with athletes in 6th - 12th, but split them up over 2 courts, so players are learning with other similarly skilled athletes.

Camp Information
Please wear a t shirt, spandex or shorts, kneepads (optional) and sport friendly athletic shoes. If it’s been awhile since you’ve played (or have never played before) we also suggest a long sleeve so your forearms don’t get sore after passing!
Also please bring your own nut free food, snacks, and water bottle. Lunch will NOT be served.
Registration also includes a t-shirt which participants are encouraged to wear on the final day of camp.
Please arrive each day by 8:45am for check in. Camp starts promptly at 9:00am.

Instructor Information
Coach Nick started playing volleyball when he was 16 in his home town: Uniondale, NY. He was fortunate enough to earn a scholarship to play at Sacred Heart University, a small Division I school based in Fairfield, CT. Though his skills quickly improved playing at such a high level, his true understanding of the game started to develop as he began coaching Sacred Heart camps during the summer.

After graduating with his Master’s in Criminal Justice and Management, Coach Nick began coaching for 2 seasons at Chelsea Piers Volleyball Club under Director Danny Goncalves, now Division I Head Coach of NJIT Men’s Volleyball Program. He then took his talents overseas, playing professionally for the Middelfart Volleyball Klub in Denmark, where he lead the league in kills, was awarded League MVP and lead the team to a 2nd place finish in the top league. He also was a member of the USA Men’s National team in the summers of 2017 and 2018.

Beginning in 2019, Coach Nick was the club director of Asphalt Green, a volleyball club based in Manhattan, NY, for 2 years. He is also a 4 time lead coach for Gold Medal Squared, a volleyball coaching program that uses motor learning, kinesiology and statistical analysis to get the best results out of youth players.

In the fall of 2021, Coach Nick moved to Texas with a goal of creating a youth volleyball program that revolved around the idea of mindfulness. As a student of the game himself, he prides himself in constantly learning and evolving as a coach and player, and loves imparting this ideology into his players.
