Milford Adaptive Programs
Milford Recreation Department has collaborated with Marlene Sanchez and the Camp Happiness staff to develop programs for children and young adults with special needs. These programs have been developed to provide children with special needs a fun, supportive and caring environment where they can socialize and participate in age appropriate activities. The Leadership team at Camp Happiness have put a lot of brainstorming to secure a good environment for all the participants. We have tried to keep each program as affordable as possible to the families so they can participate without financial hardships.

MAPs Arts & Crafts (Monday's)
  • Join Camp Happiness Art teacher, Miss Laura this summer with a 6 week arts and crafts club!! Each week, crafters will design, create, and construct with friends! Featuring seasonal and holiday themed crafts- the best way to do arts and crafts is with friends! Projects will be adapted for all participants and abilities. Participants should expect to get messy, wear clothes that can handle the mess!
  • 6 week session, led by Laura and Amanda
  • $85 participant
  • Open to ages 5 and up! Post-grads and adults are welcome!

MAPs Books and Cooks (Tuesday's)
  • Join Miss Emily and Miss Michelle for the tastiest book club around! Each week will center around a book and we’ll make a snack to go with it! This club is geared toward elementary school-aged children.
  • 5-week session, led by Michelle and Emily
  • $100 participant
  • Open to ages 6 and up! Post-grads and adults are welcome!
  • Limited to the first 10 participants
  • 5 weeks/ Tuesdays, 4:30 - 5:30 PM at Fannie Beach Neighborhood Center Community Room (16 Dixon Street, Milford, CT 06460)
  • July 2, 9, 15, 23, and 30
  • We will be cooking and eating in this club! Please email us with any food allergies or restrictions your child has.

Summer Teen Book Club (Tuesday's)
  • Join us in Teen Book Club this summer to read and discuss sections from a graphic novel selection to be announced! What is a graphic novel? Graphic novels focus more on the art, similar to comic books, to tell stories. More and more classic literature are being turned into graphic novels and it's a great way for everyone to access these treasured stories! Each week we will read, discuss, and create in a hands-on way. This program is designed by a certified special education teacher with teenagers in mind; the novel will be adapted and accessible to all participants in the club.

  • $80 per participant
  • Middle & High Schoolers (12 years and older)
  • Limited to the first 10 participants
  • 6 weeks/ Tuesdays, 6 - 7 PM at Fannie Beach Center Community Room (16 Dixon Street, Milford, CT 06460)
  • July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6
  • Participants will get: a copy of the novel, journal, and tote

Lawn Games (Wednesday's)
  • Corn Hole, Bocce, Ladder Ball, Jenga, Kan Jam, Kick Ball, Frisbee, Mini-Golf and MORE! We will try to be mostly OUTSIDE! Please bring water and wear sunscreen/sunglasses/hat! Rain or shine!! Participants will practice gross motor skills while playing games. Participants will also practice team building, social emotional, and communication skills. This is another fan-favorite club! This club is perfect for participants that enjoy playing casual games with friends!

  • Ages 12-30

Dance Fitness (Wednesday's)
  • 5, 6 , 7, 8 ! Stay moving this summer with our Dance Fitness Club! Each week, Miss Emily and Miss Danielle will lead fast paced aerobic dances that will get bodies moving and grooving! Dance Fitness is all about getting a sweat on while having fun and moving your body- and with friends!!
  • 6-week session, led by Emily Nolan & Danielle Damone
  • $75 per participant
  • All Ages: 10+
  • Limited to the first 10 participants
  • 5 weeks/ Wednesdays, 5:30 - 6:30 at Fannie Beach Center Community Room (16 Dixon Street, Milford, CT 06460)
  • July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and August 7
  • Participants should bring labeled water bottle and wear comfortable sneakers that are easy to move in.
  • Suggested clothing: participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes/ workout clothing.

Ooey Gooey Sime Club (Thursday's)
  • Each week participants will make and take-home different slime creations! All the fun without the mess at home at MAPS Ooey Gooey Slime Club!
  • A 4-week club with Camp Happiness counselors Belle and Isabella
  • $40 per participant
  • Ages 5 and up
  • Limited to first 10 participants
  • 4 Weeks 4 - 5 pm/ Wednesdays at Fannie Beach Neighborhood Center (16 Dixon Street, Milford, CT 06460)
  • DATES: June 27, July 11, July 18, and July 25

Karaoke Club (Thursday's)
  • Fan-favorite karaoke is BACK! Theme weeks, disco balls, and jammin’ with your best friends! Please bring water!
  • A 5 week session club beginning July 11 with Michelle, Sara, and Emily
  • $60 per participant
  • Ages 12 to adult
  • Limited to first 20 participants
