Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis.The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer smaller version of a wiffle ball.The United States Pickleball Association estimates there are more than 100,000 active pickleball players in the United States alone.

The Milford Recreation Department announces registration for the 2021-2022 Youth Basketball Season will begin on Thursday, September 23 at 9:00 a.m.The teams and coaches that participated together last season will remain together, as they always have, but everyone will still need to register.New individual players or players looking to change teams will be able to register for the league and will be placed on teams by the player draft.  Those interested in coaching should also register.Teams will practice once a week and play games once a week on week nights in the Milford Recreation Department's League.  Teams will also be eligible to participate in (1) of the Milford Knights Pre-Season Tournament or the CT HOOPFEST Tournament.Player evaluation will be held for All Grades at the Parsons Complex Gymnasium the week of November 1st. Update 01/03/21: Dear Parent, Due to staffing issues we were postponing the start of the FUNdamental Volleyball Clinic until January 24, 2022.The new dates will be: 1/24/22 - 2/9/22, 4p - 5:15p - Parsons Complex Gymnasium.We apologize for any inconvenience and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.  An additional notification will be sent if there are additional changes to the schedule.Thank You.  MRDMasks must be worn at all times by participants and spectators.Instructors will focus on the FUNdamentals and basics of serving, passing, setting, spiking, positioning and conditioning. This indoor pickleball program that will take place at West Shore Recreation Center is a self rated competitive program.  Please be sure to rate yourself correctly.  The program director has the right to move players to different times/sessions based on their skill level.Each session will last 4 weeks.  The format is random Round Robin, with match play being held on Saturday and Sunday according to your level of play.  The levels that are being offered are 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0.Playing time will be an hour and forty five minutes.  For each group and a max of 15 people per group.  You can only sign up for one group per session.Felicia Shashinka will act as Program Director.The fee will be $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

Milford Recreation Department has collaborated with Marlene Sanchez and the Camp Happiness staff to develop programs for children and young adults with special needs. These programs have been developed to provide children with special needs a fun, supportive and caring environment where they can socialize and participate in age appropriate activities. The Leadership team at Camp Happiness have put a lot of brainstorming to secure a good environment for all the participants. This indoor pickleball program that will take place at West Shore Recreation Center is a self rated competitive program.  Please be sure to rate yourself correctly.  The program director has the right to move players to different times/sessions based on their skill level.Each session will last 4 weeks.  The format is random Round Robin, with match play being held on Saturday and Sunday according to your level of play.  The levels that are being offered are 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0.Playing time will be an hour and forty five minutes.  For each group and a max of 15 people per group.  You can only sign up for one group per session.Felicia Shashinka will act as Program Director.The fee will be $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents.
